Excerpts from the Book - pg 2
Just for Today . . .
I won’t be so hard on myself.
My, we are perfectionists aren’t we?? If only we were
- Smarter, kinder, funnier,
- Prettier, skinnier, taller,
- More prosperous, more energetic, more athletic,
- A better mom, a better boss, a better employee,
- A better spouse/significant other, a better friend,
- Had better hair, lips, eyes, thighs,
- One size smaller, three sizes smaller, five sizes smaller,
- More artistic, more analytical, more confident,
- Less demanding, less judgmental, less focused on self,
- More spiritual, a better cook, a better housekeeper,
A better you name it . . . our lives would be perfect.
We are our own worst enemies. Nobody has to criticize us; we are way ahead of them.
Let’s focus on our strengths and accept who we are today.
Tomorrow we can get back to beating ourselves up, but today, let’s relish in the fact that we actually have something going for us.
We are smart, action oriented, and loving. We can multi-task like no man on earth, have people that love us, and most importantly, if we want to change, we can. Let’s focus on all the things we are good at and even acknowledge there are a few in which we excel.
Let’s remember we are human and it’s acceptable (and even expected) to make mistakes and not be perfect. Let’s focus on the fact our creator made us this way for a very good reason and trust that reason will be revealed to us someday. Instead of wishing we were something we aren’t let’s celebrate who we are.
Let’s not be so hard on ourselves . . . just for today.
