Excerpts from the Book - pg 4
Just for Today . . .
I’ll celebrate the fact that I am a woman.
Sometimes it seems as though we get so caught up in living in a “man’s world” that we forget how wonderful it is to be a woman. We struggle through the meetings dominated by men, the frustration with not being taken seriously or concerns about leaving to have children. We feel powerless and dominated, as if we have to work twice as hard as men to accomplish our goals.
We aren’t privy to the decisions made in the men’s restroom, locker room, or during the most recent golf game. All we want in life is the same opportunities and respect that men seem to have but it eludes us. We think they have all the advantages.
Today, let’s celebrate the fact that we are women.
The truth is we have a lot more power and advantages in this world than we like to admit. We are a very special breed.
We are softer, kinder, and more compassionate.
-
We are better people managers and relationship builders.
-
We aren’t afraid to express our emotions, our fears, or our joys.
-
We can multi-task better than three men put together.
-
We are able to purchase and wear a variety of shoes, blouses, suits, dresses, and jeans.
-
We can wear make-up to cover imperfections, enhance our good features and cover our not so great features.
They may not all admit it, but men look at us in awe because of our ability to give, to do, and to be the women we are. Let’s relish in that knowledge. We are beautifully created and the perfect compliment. We are painted and photographed by men around the world. We are strong and capable and intelligent.
Let’s celebrate the fact that we are women . . . just for today.
